How long does it take to receive bonus shares in my Demat account?

Modified on Mon, 26 May, 2025 at 12:07 PM

According to SEBI's circular, bonus shares must be credited to your Demat account by T+1 working day (where T is the record date) and become tradable by T+2 working day. However, the exact timing in your portfolio may vary by company.

You'll receive an email notification from your depository (CDSL or NSDL) once the bonus shares are credited.

Note:

The shares are first allotted under a temporary ISIN and may not appear in your portfolio immediately. It typically takes up to 2 working days for them to convert to their permanent ISIN, after which they become visible and tradable.

If you haven't received your bonus shares within 1–2 working days or haven't gotten an email update from your depository, contact the company's Registrar and Transfer Agent (RTA).
